Phillip Schopper began his film career as editor and assistant director of the much loved now classic documentary Heartworn Highways.  He has since worked as an editor on projects for networks such as PBS, Bravo, A&E, Netflix, Hulu and HBO.  For PBS he edited and directed two films for the American Masters series, Nichols and May: Take Two, and The Lives of Lillian Hellman, and served as supervising editor on Mike Nichols: An American Master.  At ABC, he was an editor for the DuPont Award-winning series Hopkins 24/7 and the Emmy-nominated series NYPD 24/7.  He has also edited several acclaimed documentaries for HBO, including the Emmy-winning Teddy: In His Own Words and 9/11, Portraits of Resilience, plus the Emmy-nominated Gloria: In Her Own Words, and followed that with Nixon by Nixon, which received three nominations, including Outstanding Editing.  More recently he was an editor for the Emmy nominated documentaries Kill Chain: The Cyber War On America's Elections, and The Price of Everything, both for HBO, and was also an editor on Netflix's, Return to Space, about America's new space race and an additional editor on the Academy Award nominated short, I Am Ready, Warden.

He currently serves on the New York Committee of American Cinema Editors and lives in the Hudson Valley with his wife and son.
